NORTH CHESHIRE CLASSIC CAR SHOW, VAUXHALL MOTORS.
Ellesmere Port Sunday 11th August
The sun only showed its face once or twice but
that did not dampen the spirits of the participants and visitors to the North
Cheshire Classic Car Club Annual Show held at Vauxhall Motors, Ellesmere Port
last weekend. By 9.00am the cavalcade into
the showground consisted of lovingly restored classic cars ranging from
Ferraris to Austin 7s.
Over 200 classic vehicles attended the show and a
steady flow of visitors were treated to
a varied collection of vehicles from brewery drays, military vehicles,
DeLorians and DRKs, Jaguars and MGs, and in some cases vehicles, from different
decades, “coming home” to their birthplace at Vauxhalls. Owners and their
vehicles had travelled from all over the Northwest to attend the event and a
blue Ferrari even managed the trip from Birmingham. A number of Car Clubs vied
for the best club stand putting on colourful displays with the winners being
the Alfa Romeo Club based in North Wales.
Best car of the show was won by the very proud owner of a beautifully
maintained Porche 356 super.
Alongside the show was a bevy of trade and charity
stands to keep those not interested in historic vehicles amused and also rides
to keep the little ones happy too. Pete
the Butcher from Bromborough, with his Hog Roast, along with others did a great
job of keeping everyone fed and watered.
The event is a non-profit making event for the North
Cheshire Classic Car Club but with the club members working together in
conjunction with visitor numbers the event raised over £1,000 to be shared
between Help for Heroes (Vauxhall Motors nominated charity) and four local
charities. (Therapeutic Cancer Care, Samaritans, Riding for Disabled and S.Wirral cats protection)
A great day was had
by all .
